Benign lesion of Larynx appearing like malignancy

This 50 year gentleman presented with hoarseness of voice for last 18 months. He is non smoker and runs a shop where he has to speak a lot.

He underwent Microlaryngal surgery GA. It was a difficult case as the growth appeared to be pedunculated and appeared to have originated from just below anterior commissure (or just adjacent to anterior commissure from undersurface of left vocal cord).

Histopathological examination of excised specimen showed fibrinoid areas with fibrovascular core with underlining stratified squamous epithelium.

Now he is advised Voice therapy along with anti inflammatory therapy in form of enzymes and low dose steroids for few days.

He is advised to have regular follow up.

Vocal polyp

 

67 year old male, non smoker, presented with hoarseness of voice more for last 6 months. he has history of tonsillectomy in 1967 and two times vocal cord biopsy in 2000 and 2005 which was negative for malignancy. Voice is more or less same for last 6 months. This video shows a mall over left vocal cord posteriorly. Now my question is whether this mass should be touched with MLS or we just observe it or treat with steroids. Please state exact diagnosis too.

A large Benign vocal polyp

This polyp was very big in very small space inside the larynx. Patient was heavy smoker. it was removed under microscope. The histopathological examination confirmed it to be benign polyp.

The patient has left smoking now and on regular follow up and have been advised speech therapy.
