Congenital Cholesteatoma

Better do MRI in case of congenital cholesteatoma as CT will not tell about extension from intracranial part or ruling out CPA cholesteatoma.  Also do MRI after surgery to rule out cerebritis or abscess after surgery.

Cholesteatoma protruding through previous cortical mastoid cavity

Well lined cholesteatoma sac seen protruding through Mastoid bone. He underwent cortical Mastoidectomy 10 years back and was almost symptom free except for once annual ear discharge for last 3 years which used to respond to antibiotics. This ear discharge was from postaural fistula. This time, his ear discharge responded partly and it came from ear canal as well with typical fishy smell of Cholesteatoma.

Your Questions

Dear Sir,

Greetings!

I am suffering with Cholesteatoma in the middle ear bone of both ears and due to it I have lost my hearing power. I have been using hearing aid. I have had surgery for removal of the same but I can not recover my hearing power. Now, my recent CT Scan is reporting that it is growing again.

I request you to kindly give us your valuable advise. I will also provide you my CT Scan images on your e-mail.

Thanking you in anticipation.

With regards.
