Viral Parotitis and submandibular sialoadenitis mimicking as neck abscess in a child

This 13 yr girl presented with one week history of neck swelling, low grade fever, slightly hoarse voice for last one week. she was admitted in a nursing home getting broad spectrum antibiotics. On admission, her TLC was merely 6000.  CT shows diffuse edema of subcutaneous neck spaces with marked bilateral enlargement of parotid and submandibular salivary glands. In our hospital, she was put on injectable Teicoplanin, amikacin. She responded well after 48 hours without any surgical intervention or steroids.
Could this be a case of Mumps like Virus remitting a spontaneous course in view of normal blood counts as in neck abscess, counts has to be high.
